This screen allows you to upload sound files that are needed for you flashcards. All uploaded sound files are made available for other users to import and use in their flashcards.
Sound File fields: If you want to upload a sound file, browse to the sound file on your hard drive. You can upload up to 10 sound files at a time. The sound file must be type .wav and must be less than or equal to 10 KB. Learn how to create a compressed .wav sound file. The sound file names must follow the file naming requirements.
- File names cannot contain:
- spaces (unix requirement)
- * ? ! | \ / " { } < > ; , ^ ( ) $ ~ (unix requirement)
- : (Windows requirement)
- # or & (html requirement)
- File names cannot start with a . (period) (Windows requirement)
- File names are case sensitive (unix requirement)
- Since the space character is not allowed in a file name, you can replace the space with a _ in the sound file name. The flashcard program will use the spelling word, answer, or text with the space replaced with the _ for sound file name. As an example, let's say the word was "one hundred". The program would automatically look for one_hundred.wav, first in the user's sounds directories and if not found, it would look in MindPal's sounds directories.
- Since the ':' character is not allowed in a file name, you can replace the : with a @ in the sound file name. The flashcard program will use the spelling word, answer, or text with the : replaced with the @ for the sound file name. For example, if the word is 12:30, the program would automatically look for 12@30.wav, first in the user's sounds directories and if not found, it would look in MindPal's sounds directories.
Upload Files: Press this button when you are ready to upload your files. You will return back to this screen and can upload more sound files if you wish.
