Help Viewing Sound Files

This screen allows you to view, preview (or listen to) and import sound files.

My Sound Files: Check View to view all sound files in your sounds directory on MindPal's server. Check Listen to hear the sound files.

Other Users' Sound Files: Check View to view all sound files in every user's sounds directory on MindPal's server. Check Listen to hear the sound files. You will also have the option of importing the sound files into your sound directory to be used with your flashcards.

MindPal's Sound Files: Check View to view all of MindPal's sound files. These files are automatically available to use with your flashcards. MindPal's sound file will be used if your flashcard has the same text, word or answer as one of MindPal's sound files or you have attached the sound file name to the flashcard, and the user checked Include Sound Files for MindPal on the Start Flashcards screen.

There is not an option to listen to MindPal's sound files since it takes such a long time to load sound files when a web page is loading. However, the name of the sound files is what you would hear following these file naming conventions:

  • Spaces are replaced with "_". (Ex. one hundred is one_hundred)
  • Colons (:) are replaced with "@". (Ex. 12:30 is 12@30)
  • A period at the beginning is replaced with "0.". (Ex. .75 is 0.75)
  • Single quotes are replaced with "qq". (Ex. don't is donqqt)

Continue: Press this button to search for and display sound files.

: Press this icon to listen to a sound. For Firefox users, you must have the QuickTime plugin installed.

Checkbox: If you want to import others' sound files into your sounds directory, check all the boxes of the sound files you want.

Import Selected Files: Press this button to import all the sound files you have checked into your sounds directory.
